Iga Swiatek is into yet another Roland Garros semi-final, brushing aside Marketa Vondrousova in the quarter-finals.

The world number one showed her true colours once more at the French Open as she eased into the last four.

A 6-0, 6-2 victory was achieved in just over an hour on the Paris clay, marking her 19th straight win in the competition.

It also represented her 17th successive win on clay this season, and came after she demolished Anastasia Potapova in the fourth round.

That match was even more straightforward, with the Pole winning 6-0, 6-0 to set up the meeting with Vondrousova.

Iga Swiatek notices big improvement in Coco Gauff’s game

Up next for the world number one is Coco Gauff, who will be keen for revenge after losing the 2022 French Open final to Swiatek.

Ahead of their upcoming meeting, the latter has heaped praise on the former, spotting a big improvement in her game.

“I think her mental game is a little bit better and before it was easier to crack her, I would say, when you were leading but it’s normal she’s making progress,” Swiatek said in her latest press conference.

“She is at that age when everything goes nicely, if you are working hard you will get progress.

“Probably every aspect of her game is a bit better because it’s different being a teenager on tour and being a more mature player.”

Is yet another French Open title for Iga Swiatek inevitable?

Gauff has undoubtedly grown since that 2022 Roland Garros final defeat, where she lost 6-1, 6-3 to the Pole in Paris.

Swiatek, however, has also been developing her game, as proven when she successfully defended her crown in 2023.

A 6–2, 5–7, 6–4 win over Karolina Muchova was secured on the clay last year, with the Pole now chasing a stunning third successive title.

And if her latest win is anything to go by, she will be almost impossible to stop, with Naomi Brady claiming that Swiatek is the best front runner across both women’s and men’s tennis.

It could, of course, have been very different at Roland Garros had Naomi Osaka overcome Swiatek in round two.

But the Pole produced a fantastic comeback, which included saving a match point, to clinch a 7-6 (7-1), 1-6, 7-5 victory.

Osaka can be very proud of her display having only recently returned to the court, with Andy Roddick predicting another major for the four-time Grand Slam singles champion.
