Iga Swiatek will still be thinking about what could have been at Roland Garros following her shock exit from the Grand Slam.

Swiatek’s tactical approach shocked Tim Henman as she fell to Marta Kostyuk, losing their fourth round clash 7-5, 6-1.

It was a superb performance from the Ukrainian, who is now 16-0 on clay in 2026, but Swiatek was far from her best.

The Pole, who is a four-time champion at Roland Garros, has now reacted to her surprise defeat, and has shared her immediate plans following the clay-court Grand Slam.

Where do you think she will be ranked?

Taking to social media, Swiatek posted on her Instagram: “Today’s match was challenging, and I definitely struggled to maintain my level.

“It’s never easy to walk off the court, especially knowing I can perform better.

“However, I understand that these moments are part of the journey and it may take some time to improve in certain areas but as always, I am determined to move forward.

“I’ll take some time off in the next few days and focus on the next part of the season.

“Thank you for your support and see you soon.”

It’s an admirable attitude from the WTA number three, who must not be too discouraged despite falling well short at Roland Garros.

Iga Swiatek must not be too disheartened despite Roland Garros disappointment

After her brief break from tennis, Swiatek will quickly turn her focus to the grass-court swing on the WTA Tour.

It comprises seven tournaments in total, culminating in Wimbledon, which the 25-year-old won for the first time in her career last year.

And she lifted the prestigious trophy in simply sensational fashion, defeating Amanda Anisimova 6-0, 6-0 in the final.

That should ease Swiatek’s concerns following her disappointing Roland Garros run, along with the fact that she will have worked with Francisco Roig for longer by the time Wimbledon arrives.

Many eyes were on the pair in Paris given Roig’s previous work with Rafael Nadal, who won a record 14 Roland Garros titles.

But perhaps his partnership with the WTA star arrived too early for a deep run in the French capital, with the duo now able to turn their attention to grass with more time and indeed more trust behind them.
