Nick Kygrios continues to add to the entertainment of the Australian Open.
Having joined Eurosport’s coverage of his home grand slam due to ongoing injury troubles, eyebrows were raised as the 28-year-old set up for commentary duty.
But, the 2022 Wimbledon finalist has been a breath of fresh air, both talking about and with the players.

However, his latest encounter with Novak Djokovic might just be the best thus far.
But what did Kygrios say to the world number one that got him so excited? And what proposal did he in turn issue the Australian? We take a closer look…
Novak Djokovic wants to play doubles with Nick Kygrios
As one of the more controversial players on tour, Kygrios naturally divides opinion.
However, as someone who has earned his fair share of haters, Djokovic too is no stranger to adversary, with the co-commentator in question having lauded his rivalry with Ben Shelton very recently.
Following his battling second-round win against Aussie Alexei Popyrin, the Serbian spoke to Kygrios about the many flashpoints throughout the match.
One standout saw the 36-year-old turn to a fan in the crowd, insisting he come down and say whatever insult he had uttered to his face.

Well, in his post-match interview with the world number 192, he was offered some pretty solid protection in future. But first, he pleaded with Kygrios, live on Eurosport: ‘Nick, come back man, let’s play doubles!’
‘Bro I’m ready,’ he replied, before turning attention back to that rogue supporter. ‘Let’s do WWE in the crowd, I’ll jump in for you, I’ll go first, I’ll get that guy outta here.’
Djokovic noted: ‘I’d love that, get the popcorn and watch that.’
The Djokovic & Kygrios bromance only grows
Having teased at a doubles partnership back before the 2023 Indian Wells, as the Australian fought to return to fitness, such an opportunity has been regularly scuppered by Kygrios’ injury woes.
But, it seems that ever since that 2022 Wimbledon final, in which Djokovic added a stunning 20th grand slam to his trophy cabinet, the two have grown closer than ever.

Sharing jokes and threatening to form an all-stars doubles team, anticipation is growing from fans to pair together one of the most entertaining players on tour with one of the greatest of all time.
We now await the push from Kygrios to return to fitness as soon as possible, to make this ongoing promise a reality.
