Hubert Hurkacz has made a big move as he looks to bounce back from an underwhelming year in 2024.

The 27-year-old struggled at points during the year on the ATP Tour, as he failed to build upon a strong year in 2023.

Hurkacz won the Estoril Open earlier this year, but good results were hard to come by in a year that saw him finish as world number 16.

It was a big drop for Hurkacz, who ended the last three years inside the world’s top ten, winning Masters 1000 titles at the Miami Open and the Shanghai Masters.

Hurkacz had struggled with injury in 2024, which saw him miss parts of the season, but will hope that a strong pre-season will see him return to the top of men’s tennis.

He’s certainly doing all he can, as Hurkacz has just announced a big change to his coaching team ahead of the new year.

Hurkacz parted ways with his coach Craig Boynton earlier this year, after a tricky year on tour for the big-serving Pole.

Ahead of the 2025 season, Hurkacz took to Instagram to announce two huge names that are set to join his coaching setup.

Pictured alongside eight-time Grand Slam winner Ivan Lendl, and former Olympic Gold medallist Nicolas Massu, Hurkacz had a short and simple message looking ahead to next year.

“Bring it on, 2025,” he said.

The pair will bring a wealth of experience both from their time on the court, and from coaching, as Hurkacz looks to surge back up the rankings in the new year.

Have Ivan Lendl and Nicolas Massu been successful as coaches?

For any player looking to achieve Grand Slam success, having a coach that knows what to say, and has previous experience in leading players to glory can be crucial.

Hurkacz may well have taken a big step towards achieving his goals with his latest appointment, as both Lendl and Massu, have scored some big results during their coaching career.

Lendl, partnered Andy Murray to three Grand Slam titles, and a win at the ATP Finals in 2016, as the Brit reached world number one.

Similarly, Massu was in charge for Dominic Thiem’s victory at the US Open in 2020, as he finally won a Grand Slam title on his fourth attempt.

The pair will certainly be able to guide Hurkacz in the right direction as he looks to bounce back from a somewhat underwhelming year on the ATP Tour.

Hurkacz will likely return to action at the United Cup which begins on December 27.
