Valentin Vacherot has had mixed results since winning the Shanghai Masters last year.

Vacherot won the Shanghai Masters out of nowhere in October, having been ranked as the world number 204 prior to the tournament.

However, after coming through qualifying, Vacherot beat the likes of Novak Djokovic, Holger Rune and his cousin Arthur Rinderknech in the final, in what was an incredible run.

This victory massively raised Vacherot’s profile in tennis, and there is now a much greater spotlight on his results.

Valentin Vacherot’s results since winning the Shanghai Masters

Vacherot has played eight events since winning the Shanghai Masters, with an overall win-loss record of 9-6 (60%).

The highlight of these results came at his next Masters 1000 tournament in Paris, where Vacherot reached the quarterfinals before losing to Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Showing just how much of a rise he has made in recent months, Vacherot had never won a Grand Slam main draw match before the Australian Open this year.

Vacherot changed this in Melbourne, where he was actually the 30th seed, reaching the third round of a major for the first time.

Who is the best ATP player never to win a Grand Slam title?

Is it Alexander Zverev, Marcelo Rios, Tomas Berdych, David Ferrer or maybe even someone else?

The best win of Vacherot’s since the Shanghai Masters in terms of ranking came when he was representing Monaco at the Davis Cup earlier this month.

This is where Vacherot beat Alexander Bublik in Astana to help his nation produce a big upset.

However, in his first tournament after that Davis Cup result, Vacherot lost in the first round to Alex Michelsen in Delray Beach.

Vacherot began his most recent tournament at the Mexican Open, where he came from a set down to beat Coleman Wong to prevent another first round exit.

As a result of Vacherot’s victory at the Shanghai Masters last year, he shot straight up the rankings and now has a career-high ranking of world number 25.

Vacherot is currently placed as the world number 27, but has an opportunity to improve his career-high even further.

What has been the best ATP match of 2026?

Tell us in the comments below!

Over 62% of Vacherot’s ranking point total come from his Shanghai Masters win last year, and he has over seven months until he has to defend them.

Prior to returning to the Shanghai Masters, Vacherot has only 221 ranking points to defend in the meantime, and therefore has a big opportunity to continue scaling the ranks.

Vacherot has already gained 50 points after winning his first round match at the Mexican Open, and will gain another 50 if he wins his next match against either Gael Monfils or Damir Dzumhur.

This would take him into world number 24 in the current live ATP rankings, which would be another career-high for Vacherot.
