Coco Gauff has already achieved more than most players ever will in her career, and she is still just 21 years old.

The American has claimed 11 WTA titles so far, with two of her trophies being clinched on the biggest stages in tennis.

Gauff has secured two Grand Slams, having won her first major at the 2023 US Open and her second at this year’s French Open.

Alongside her title collection, she has reached a career-high ranking of second in the world and has raked in a total of $29,759,121 in prize money.

In 2019, Gauff made her debut at the Miami Open and earned her first tour-level victory against compatriot Caty McNally.

The WTA rankings looked much different back then, and she had not yet cracked the top 50.

The current world number one, Aryna Sabalenka, was ninth in the WTA rankings at that point, one place above Serena Williams.

Naomi Osaka was ranked first and had just won back-to-back Grand Slam titles at the Australian Open and the US Open.

Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova was second, while Simona Halep and Angelique Kerber were placed third and fourth, respectively.

Major winners Ashleigh Barty and Caroline Wozniacki were just outside the top ten in 2019, and Maria Sharapova was 30th.

Venus Williams was the world number 43, and 17-year-old Amanda Anisimova was already inside the top 100 at 78th.

Coco Gauff’s big breakthrough at Wimbledon in 2019

Gauff ultimately lost in the second round of the Miami Open in 2019 and did not feature in the main draw of a WTA Tour-level event until the Wimbledon championships later that year.

The then-15-year-old came through qualifying at the All England Club to book her place in a major for the first time in her career.

In her maiden Grand Slam match, Gauff took the tennis world by storm when she defeated Venus Williams in straight sets.

She picked up another straight-set win against Magdalena Rybarikova in the second round and overcame Polona Hercog in a tight three-setter in round three.

Her fourth-round opponent, seventh seed Halep, was a step too far for the teenager, with the Romanian beating Gauff 6-3, 6-3 en route to winning the title.
