Amanda Anisimova continues to collect big ranking points after winning her second WTA 1000 title this year.

Anisimova beat Linda Noskova to win the China Open, continuing her breakout season in 2025.

This alongside Anisimova reaching the final of the US Open and Wimbledon has enabled her to reach the top five in the WTA rankings for the first time this year.

Despite her victory at the China Open, Anisimova has remained in the same position in the WTA rankings and instead it is two other American players who have switched positions.

The top 10 in the WTA rankings have now been updated after the China Open

Anisimova is currently at a career-high ranking of world number four, and has closed the gap on Coco Gauff to 1,274 points.

Although Aryna Sabalenka withdrew from the China Open, she still has a comfortable lead over Iga Swiatek, who was unable to take full advantage of the world number one’s absence after losing in the fourth round.

There are only small movements in the top 10 of the WTA rankings this week, with Jessica Pegula overtaking her compatriot and good friend Madison Keys.

That was nearly not the case, as Pegula had to save three match points against Emma Raducanu in the third round of the China Open.

Pegula had three match points against Noskova, which would have enabled her to overtake Mirra Andreeva as well, but she then faced the same fate as Raducanu.

Keys will not be able to bridge that gap on Pegula, as she has withdrawn from the Wuhan Open after citing a knee injury.

The only other movement inside the top 10 of the WTA rankings sees Elena Rybakina climbing one spot, despite losing in the third round of the China Open.

That came as a result of Qinwen Zheng, who returned to the WTA Tour in Beijing, failing to defend her semifinal points from last year.

Zheng is now set to suffer an even further drop down the rankings, after withdrawing from the Wuhan Open, where she reached the final last year.

Although she is not a top 10 player, China Open runner-up Noskova has climbed up to a career-high ranking of world number 17.

Who has qualified for the WTA Finals?

For players ranked inside the top 10, the race to the WTA Finals is probably an even bigger motivation for many of them at the moment.

After the China Open, the WTA Finals now has five of its participants confirmed, with just three players remaining.

Anisimova will make her debut at the WTA Finals in Riyadh later this year, joining the likes of Sabalenka, Swiatek, Gauff and Keys, with the latter already qualified as a result of being a Grand Slam champion from this year.

Interestingly from the race to the WTA Finals, Anisimova is currently forecasted to overtake Gauff as American number one by the end of 2025.

Pegula is also within touching distance of making her fourth consecutive appearance at the year-end tournament.

The final two places are currently held by Andreeva and Rybakina, but Jasmine Paolini is closing in on the latter in particular after reaching the China Open quarterfinals.

This battle to qualify for the WTA Finals will continue at the Wuhan Open, which is the final 1000 level tournament of the 2025 season.
