Novak Djokovic is still in pursuit of Grand Slam titles in the twilight of his illustrious career.

In 2025, the Serb came close to achieving the record-breaking feat at all four majors, but was denied at the semifinal stage each time.

Djokovic, while clearly still the third-best player in the world currently, found it difficult to get back both Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz late on in the tournaments, bar the Australian Open, where he overcame the Spaniard in the quarterfinals.

He last reached the championship match of a Grand Slam in 2024, when he advanced to his sixth Wimbledon final before falling to Alcaraz.

It was 2023, though, when Djokovic last got his hands on a major title, at which point the ATP rankings looked very different.

That year, Djokovic enjoyed one of his best seasons on the ATP Tour, having won three Grand Slam titles, two Masters crowns, as well as the ATP Finals.

At the US Open, Djokovic dropped just two sets en route to the final, where he ultimately defeated Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 7-6, 6-3 to hoist his 24th Grand Slam.

Where will Alexander Zverev finish 2026 ranked?

He was ranked second in the world at the time, but with his triumph, he surpassed Alcaraz to take the top spot once again.

Sinner, who went on to claim world number one status in 2024, was the world number seven, while the current ATP number three, Alexander Zverev, was ranked 10th.

Medvedev, Holger Rune, and Stefanos Tsitsipas made up spots three, four and five, but are now all ranked outside the top ten in 2025.

Novak Djokovic’s losses at Grand Slams since the 2023 US Open

It looked highly likely that Djokovic would go on to clinch major number 25 at the 2024 Australian Open after winning at Flushing Meadows, but it was not to be.

Djokovic lost to Sinner in the semifinals in Melbourne and withdrew at the quarterfinals stage at Roland Garros months later due to injury.

Following his trip to the 2024 Wimbledon final, Djokovic recorded his worst Grand Slam finish since 2017, crashing out in the third round of the US Open to Alexei Popyrin.

In 2025, Djokovic’s Australian Open campaign ended during his semifinal clash with Zverev due to injury.

He was then beaten by Sinner in Paris and London, and was handed another Grand Slam defeat by Alcaraz in New York.
