Holger Rune was notably missing from the US Open mixed doubles lineup that has been announced this week.
Tennis fans were amazed by the US Open’s announcement, with all but two of the top 10 singles players from the ATP and WTA Tours featuring.
The only player from the WTA Tour missing is Coco Gauff, who has decided to skip the mixed doubles event at the US Open this year.
Rune remains the only top 10 ATP player not included in the entry list, and he has now revealed if he entered the event.

Holger Rune reveals if he entered US Open mixed doubles
Rune has made a strong start on grass this year, winning his first two matches to reach the quarter-finals of the Queen’s Club Championships.
After coming from a set down to beat Mackenzie McDonald, Rune responded to a post on social media about his absence from the US Open mixed doubles event.
The post he responded to pitched fake quotes from Rune, joking that he had turned down offers from WTA players because he did not agree with the new revamped US Open mixed doubles event.
In his social media post reply, Rune revealed that he has actually entered the event and there is still over a week for other players to do so.
Rune wrote, “I did enter. Entry does not close before June 28.”
The US Open announced all 16 teams that had entered the event in their initial lineup, but Rune’s latest revelation suggests that this is not finalised.
Has Holger Rune played at doubles at a Grand Slam before?
The US Open changing the format of their mixed doubles event and bringing it the week before the main draw of singles has been a big incentive for these top players to enter, as well as the $1million in prize money on offer for the champions.
This also appears to have been the case for Rune, who has only once played doubles at a Grand Slam before.
That came at the US Open in 2022, when Rune was partnered by Alexander Bublik.
Rune and Bublik’s US Open run was fairly short-lived, after losing in the second round.

While that partnership did not come to much, Rune has found some success on the ATP Tour in doubles with a 65% win percentage.
His best performance came at the Cincinnati Open with Stefanos Tsitsipas in 2022, going all the way to the semi-finals before withdrawing.
The Dane was also supposed to play mixed doubles with Caroline Wozniacki at the Olympics last year, but Rune ended up withdrawing from the Paris Games.
