Holger Rune is a player who divides opinion, given his penchant for putting in phenomenal performances, but just as frequently failing to hit anywhere near the heights expected.

A former world number four, few can deny the quality he boasts.

However, likely attributed to his youth, he remains immature and reckless at times. Mid-way through matches, this petulance can really hurt him.

Regardless, he remains well-liked by players and fans, with many of the latter hoping he can find some stability to become a threat for elite honours once again.

Holger Rune names his best friends on the ATP Tour

Speaking to Los Gonzalez de Tour, Holger Rune recently sat down with two kids to answer the hard-hitting questions from the future of journalism.

The most prominent, that seems to be gathering the most interest, is who he sees as his best friends on the tour.

He would reply: ‘I have a few back in Denmark but you won’t know who they are. I’m going to say on the tour, some of the players my age like [Carlos] Alcaraz, [Lorenzo] Musetti, [Luca] Nardi.

‘These are guys who I spent time together at the junior tournaments. It’s nice to spend time together.’

Ironically, Carlos Alcaraz named Rune as the person who talks the most trash on tour, in a strange turn of events.

Holger Rune needs to find stability after coaching mess

Rune is undeniably one of his generation’s most talented players, but for all his quality, he has little to show for it.

Fortunately, at just 21 years old, he still has so much time.

However, with those like Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner within his age bracket having already shot to superstardom, it feels like pressure is ramping up on the Danish hothead.

Rune split with coach Patrick Mouratoglou back in June, and has since linked up with Benjamin ‘Benny’ Ebrahimzadeh.

Having suffered such unrelenting unrest to kickstart his career, hopefully this well-respected coach can drill some stability into his routine.

His past successes include taking Andrea Petkovic from around 60th in the world into the top ten, and leading Angelique Kerber from 120th to fifth in the WTA rankings, before then winning Grand Slam titles with her as well.

Rune will be hoping to emulate the latter under Ebrahimzadeh’s guidance.
