Andy Roddick has been raving about Carlos Alcaraz and he’s also predicted how many Grand Slam titles the Spaniard will win during his career.
The discussions turned to Alcaraz after Andy Murray took to social media to laud the youngster – prompting last year’s Wimbledon winner to thank the Great Britain star.
Roddick has also been quizzed on Alcaraz. The talk started after Alcaraz thrashed compatriot Roberto Carballes Baena 6-2, 6-1 in the last 64 of the Miami Open.
In the next round, a tougher proposition awaits, with Gael Monfils preparing to take on Alcaraz in the last 32 of the competition.
Roddick simply loves watching Alcaraz play and the former USA player has even predicted how many majors he sees him winning during his career.

Well, it’s no surprise that Roddick simply loves watching Alcaraz play as let’s face it, who doesn’t!
The Spaniard was simply faultless in last night’s match and he’s the type of player who you simply can’t take your eyes off when he’s on the court.
Interestingly, Roddick has now predicted how many majors he believes he will win during his career. He’s also heaped a large amount of praise on the young player.
He told the Tennis Channel: “It makes me smile too because he’s able to do the things on the court that nobody else can do. He turns offence into defence, his body is just electric, the power off the forehand side mixed with the drop shot and the joy that he’s playing with again. He’s a victim of his own shadow again in the sense that if he doesn’t play great it’s ‘Oh, what’s happened with Carlos Alcaraz again?’
“Let’s all calm down, let’s all take the temperature, this guy is going to win 8-10 majors minimum, he’s still so young and he can do everything and it’s just so fun to watch. I fully agree with Murray.”
Alcaraz can dominate for years to come
The 20-year-old will be under no illusions that he’s under a large amount of pressure based on Rafael Nadal.
People will simply presume that he is going to be the heir to the throne but hopefully, he can be allowed to play and find his own way in the game.
Alcaraz has already ticked off the first of the eight to ten majors that Roddick fancies him to win, with Wimbledon grabbed last year.
Now, the hope will be that Alcaraz can settle down and continue taking silverware in the coming months and years.
With Novak Djokovic starting to show a beatable persona at the bigger tournaments, Alcaraz will see the opportunity to stake his place at the top table.
The youngster is still a little way from dominating just yet but in the next few years, it feels as though he really could become unstoppable.
