Sofia Kenin has continued her poor start to the 2026 season at the Miami Open.
Kenin won the Australian Open title in 2020, and she also reached the final of the French Open that year.
This enabled Kenin to achieve her career-high ranking of world number four, and she has been ranked inside the top 30 this year.
However, Kenin looks a long way from the player who won Grand Slam titles after her first round exit from the Miami Open.

Sofia Kenin has now lost her last eight matches after Miami Open defeat
Kenin won her first match of the 2026 season against Elena-Gabriela Ruse at the Brisbane International, but she has failed to win another match since then.
The American has just lost her latest match in the first round of the Miami Open against Anna Blinkova, where she was beaten 3-6, 6-1, 6-3.

This is Kenin’s eighth consecutive defeat, and she has now lost in the first round of seven tournaments in a row.
World number 92 Blinkova is the lowest player to beat Kenin in this run, as she now faces a potential drop down the rankings.

Kenin was the most aced player on the WTA Tour last year, and it has been an issue for her once again in 2026.
Despite only being aced twice by Blinkova, Kenin was aced 40 times in two matches against Qinwen Zheng and Clara Tauson in Doha and Dubai, respectively.
Sofia Kenin could be about to suffer a big rankings drop
As a result of her recent form, Kenin had already fallen outside the top 40 in the WTA rankings, and this is set to continue further.
Last year, Kenin reached the Charleston Open final, where she was beaten in the championship match by Jessica Pegula.
The Charleston Open is coming up after the Miami Open, and Kenin faces big pressure to defend the 325 points she earned last year.
Who are you backing to complete the sunshine double?
Or do you think both Sabalenka and Sinner will win the Miami Open?
If Kenin suffers another first round loss in Charleston then she will drop outside the top 70 in the world rankings.
The 27-year-old needs to start finding some form soon, as Kenin is currently outside the top 100 in the race to the WTA Finals.
