Jack Draper is enjoying his best run in recent years, having seemingly returned to form after a torrid period suffering from injury.
Last week marked the triumphant winning of his first ATP title in Stuttgart, and having since won his first round at Queen’s, many are clamouring to watch his upcoming clash with Carlos Alcaraz in the second round tomorrow.
However, in the run-up to this prestigious West Kensington tournament, the Great British tennis star actually shocked many with his appearance in British Vogue.
There has been a largely positive response to this, aside from one high-profile figure.
Genie Bouchard slams Jack Draper’s Vogue interview
Genie Bouchard was not outwardly offended by the 22-year-old’s presence in this infamous magazine, but more regretful that he seems to get away with such antics when others might not.
Naturally, she can only lean on her own experiences, but it was one particular quote from Draper that she honed in on: ‘I quite enjoy being in front of the camera.’

So, taking to X, she would simply quote the tweet and write: ‘If I had said this 10 years ago I would have been crucified’
And it’s hard to argue with the Canadian.
Emma Raducanu has suffered for similar decisions
Whilst Bouchard’s claim does seem rather unnecessarily inflammatory, given Draper is enjoying the form of his short career, it is a fair comment.
After all, Emma Raducanu outlines the perfect modern-day example of a player who is lambasted for such exploits.
Upon winning the US Open in 2021, a true fairytale story which took the tennis world by storm, her life changed overnight.
Instantly, the 21-year-old was expected to be a contender, when in fact she was nowhere near the requisite level to compete at the top of the sport yet.
But that’s what the media built her up to be, just so that when she inevitably failed, they could jump on her.
However, it was her eagerness to capitalise on her newfound success, which any good marketing team would do, that drew particular scrutiny.

She now boasts partnerships with Dior, Tiffany, Porsche, Nike and HSBC, to name just a few, yet comes under fire for attending functions relating to these sponsors, or promoting them despite her poor form.
Raducanu will likely one day be a regular at the top of tennis, but for now she is still only recovering from injury. It is worth noting that, the difference in treatment between her and Draper is startling, especially given both only have one ATP and WTA title respectively.
It’s just ironically unfortunate that the one that she won shot her to such unfathomable stardom, thus making her a prime target to be torn to shreds.
