Frances Tiafoe finally decided to make a change in his coaching team in October following a disappointing season on the ATP Tour.
Tiafoe parted ways with David Witt, as well as Jordi Arconada, whom he had appointed ahead of the 2024 North American hard-court swing.
With Witt in his corner, the American enjoyed one of the best Grand Slam results of his career when he made it to the US Open semifinals last year.

His 2025 campaign did not go as he would have planned, however, having fallen down the rankings to 30th in the world.
Recently, Tiafoe finally spoke publicly about his decision to part ways with Witt and a potential replacement for 2026.
Frances Tiafoe issues an update on his change in coaching team
Tiafoe is currently in Charlotte, North Carolina, for the ‘Charlotte Invitational’; an exhibition event that Venus Williams is also featuring in.
Ahead of his match there, the 27-year-old was asked what went into the decision to part ways with Witt and Arconada.

As per ‘Christian’s Court‘ on X, formerly known as Twitter, Tiafoe responded: “I mean, I got rid of more than just two guys.
“I just wanted a fresh start. We have been doing the same thing for a very long time. I’ll be 28 at the top of the year, and I kind of just want to do something different.
“I want to get a little bit uncomfortable and just see what happens. Why not? I don’t think there is anything bad that can come out of that.
“As far as what is going forward, I guess you guys will have to wait and see. Wait and see who I decide to bring with me and go on this crazy journey that we call life.”

Frances Tiafoe’s results at Grand Slams this season
Tiafoe’s Grand Slam season did not get off to a good start when he bowed out of the Australian Open in round two.
He lost to Fabian Marozsan in Melbourne, but had a much-improved result when he took to the clay courts of Roland Garros.
Who will be the biggest disappointment at the 2026 Australian Open?
In Paris, Tiafoe achieved his best major finish in 2025, reaching the quarterfinals, where he was ultimately knocked out by Lorenzo Musetti.
After his French Open run, though, Tiafoe then suffered two early exits at the last two Grand Slams of the year.
He crashed out in the second round of Wimbledon, and after a semifinal finish at the US Open last year, he only went as far as the third round this time.
