Frances Tiafoe has yet to win a Masters 1000 title in his career.
His best result was reaching the 2024 Cincinnati Open final, but Tiafoe was beaten by Jannik Sinner 7-6, 6-2.
After the grass court season came to an end in July, the Masters 1000 season has now resumed at the Canadian Open.
Tiafoe thrives during the North American summer hard court swing, and he aims to build some momentum ahead of the US Open in three weeks’ time.

Frances Tiafoe has competed in each of the nine Masters 1000 events on the ATP Tour.
In addition to his runner-up appearance in Cincinnati, Tiafoe has also reached an Indian Wells semifinal in 2023.
The 27-year-old also reached the quarter-finals at the Miami Open in 2019, and he also made the last eight at the Paris Masters in 2022.
Now Tiafoe is competing in Toronto, a Masters 1000 tournament he wants to win more than any other.
“I would take any of them, but if I had to pick one, probably Toronto with my girl being from there,” Tiafoe told the ATP’ Tour website.
“Toronto would be sick. Also any of the ones in the States, they would be great.”

It is fitting that Tiafoe expressed his desire to win the Canadian Open as he is currently playing in the tournament.
He advanced to the fourth round after a pair of three-set victories against Yosuke Watanuki and Aleksandar Vukic.
Tiafoe now faces a tough test if he wants to reach the quarterfinals in Toronto. He will take on Alex de Minaur, who won the Citi Open on Sunday.
The Australian is on a six-match winning streak and has won two of his previous three meetings against Tiafoe.
However, their first meeting since 2022 promises to be an exciting one and both players will need to be at the top of their game to emerge victorious.
