Frances Tiafoe will appear in his third tournament of the 2026 season at the Dallas Open on Tuesday.

So far this year, Tiafoe has featured at the Brisbane International and the Australian Open, and exited both in the early stages.

The American fell in the second round to eventual champion Daniil Medvedev in Brisbane, and bowed out to home hope Alex de Minaur in round three at Melbourne Park.

Tiafoe, who changed coaches from David Witt to Mark Kovacs recently, will now look to bounce back from an indifferent start to his campaign in Dallas.

Ahead of his run at the indoor hard-court event, the 28-year-old gave his opinion on the surface in Texas.

Frances Tiafoe claims most indoor courts are ‘crazy slow’ now

When asked how the Dallas courts are playing in an interview with Tennis TV, Tiafoe said: “Medium pace.

“I think it’s low bouncing. Really low bouncing. The slices are staying low. It’s kind of tough to beat the ball up.

“They are actually playing faster than most indoor courts these days, because a lot of the indoor courts are crazy slow.

“But the courts are playing good, especially on hardwood. They kind of all play the same nowadays, but this is a little bit quicker, which is nice.”

The Dallas Open had its inaugural edition in 2022, and last year the tournament was upgraded from an ATP 250 to an ATP 500.

“I just love the city of Dallas,” said Tiafoe. “I come out here on my time off, hang out with the homies. It’s a lovely area. It’s a great area. They love their tennis out here, which is great.”

Frances Tiafoe’s tough first opponent at the Dallas Open

Tiafoe will have a tough first assignment at the Dallas Open, as he is set to face Terence Atmane in the round of 32.

Atmane burst onto the scene at last year’s Cincinnati Open, where he beat Joao Fonseca, Taylor Fritz and Holger Rune en route to the semifinals.

Several big names are competing at the Dallas Open, including Fritz, Ben Shelton and Tommy Paul.

Australian Open quarterfinalist and promising American talent Learner Tien will also be in action at the competition.
