The WTA and ATP Tour tennis schedules roar on after the China Open, in what has been a hectic schedule of late.

Carlos Alcaraz doubled down on his schedule complaints after his China Open win, having headed straight to the Shanghai Masters.

He made the move right after his success in Beijing, travelling to Shanghai with his fellow China Open finalist Jannik Sinner.

The WTA calendar meanwhile has also come under plenty of fire, with world number one Iga Swiatek exhausted by the schedule.

She withdrew from the China Open before making the same decision for the Wuhan Open, with Naomi Osaka another big name missing out.

Osaka has also withdrawn from the Japan Open, with the four-time having retired hurt from her recent China Open clash with Coco Gauff.

Gauff went on to win the tournament in Beijing, beating Karolina Muchova in the final, with the latter having recently reached the US Open semi-finals.

The Czech star has now added her name to the list of Wuhan Open dropouts, with Muchova writing on her Instagram story: “Hi everyone. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to compete in Wuhan this year.

“After a tough schedule in Beijing, I need a bit more time to fully recover. Looking forward to seeing you all in Ningbo next week!”

Fortunately Muchova is seemingly simply fatigued as opposed to carrying an injury, which is the case for Osaka.

The former, who reached a career-high WTA ranking of eight last September, looks set to be back in action at next week’s Ningbo Open.

It has been a busy time for the world number 31, who really impressed during her fantastic run in New York.

Muchova overcame the likes of Osaka, Jasmine Paolini and Beatriz Haddad Maia on her way to the last four at Flushing Meadows.

But her dream run finally came to an end at the hands of home star Jessica Pegula, who went on to lose the final to Aryna Sabalenka.
