Two players have dominated the ATP Tour in 2025: Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
For the second year in a row, Alcaraz and Sinner have shared the four Grand Slams, with the former winning the French Open and US Open and the latter, the Australian Open and Wimbledon.
They are also ranked number one and two in the world, with a healthy 4,000+ point gap to world number three, Alexander Zverev.
Many have enjoyed watching Alcaraz and Sinner’s rivalry develop, although some have already grown tired of seeing the pair contest ‘big’ finals.
One former world number one has now shared his thoughts on their dominance, expressing his fears for the future of the ATP Tour.
Yevgeny Kafelnikov is ‘afraid’ Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz will dominate for five years
Russia’s two-time Grand Slam winner and former world number one, Yevgeny Kafelnikov, gave his verdict on Alcaraz and Sinner during an interview on the ‘First&Red’ YouTube channel.
“It all depends on them, but as I see it now, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will rule for a very long time, because at the moment, nobody can compete with them,” said Kafelnikov.
“Neither Alexander Zverev nor Novak Djokovic. Unfortunately, Novak is physically worn out, and he knows it. And when playing at Grand Slams, with best-of-three sets, it is very difficult for him to compete with young guys, Sinner and Alcaraz, who are at the peak of their powers.
“I’m afraid that we will see this dominance for the next five years.”
Kafelnikov’s prediction might not be as outlandish as it seems, given that the Spaniard and Italian have won every Grand Slam available since the beginning of the 2024 season.

To put the magnitude of those numbers into context, the player with 4,850 points fewer than Zverev is world number 47 Benjamin Bonzi.

The world number five has been playing some scintillating tennis over the past few months, recovering after a slow start to the season.

Picking up dominant wins over Zverev and Alcaraz at the Laver Cup recently, Fritz reminded fans that he has what it takes to compete with the very best in men’s tennis.
Whether he can do so consistently remains to be seen, although he will certainly be one to look out for in 2026.
Jack Draper
Injuries may have put an early end to Jack Draper’s 2025 campaign, but that shouldn’t stop us from recognising the improvements he made this year.
At Indian Wells, Draper beat Alcaraz en route to the title and provided the Spaniard with another tough test when they met again in Rome.
The Brit reached a career-high ranking of number four in the world earlier this year, proving himself as one of the best players on tour.
If he can stay fit for a full year, then don’t be surprised to see Draper closing the gap to Sinner and Alcaraz in 2026.
Felix Auger-Aliassime
Once touted as the sport’s ‘next big thing’, Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime hasn’t quite been able to live up to those expectations so far.
However, with two titles to his name in 2025 and an impressive run to the last four at Flushing Meadows fresh in the memory, Auger-Aliassime looks to be on the right track.

Consistency has been the 25-year-old’s biggest nemesis over the years, but if he can start to pick up results on a regular basis, then he might be set for a big season in 2026.
Only time will tell if any of Fritz, Draper, or Auger-Aliassime can challenge Sinner and Alcaraz next year, but it will certainly be something to look out for.
