Shortly after the French Open, the grass court season will get underway with the world’s top tennis players looking ahead to the razzmatazz of Wimbledon.
The major, which takes place in England, is often cited as the one that most players are desperate to win over the others, and the event is always eagerly anticipated.
Last year, Carlos Alcaraz was the man victorious at SW19 as he defended the title that he won for the first time in 2023.
As ever, there will be players desperate to get themselves into the main draw for Wimbledon when it gets underway in a couple of months in the United Kingdom.
The field will undoubtedly be strong, but for one former finalist, it would appear that he could now be getting somewhat anxious about his chances of playing at the tournament.

Marin Cilic not confirmed for Wimbledon yet
The 2017 Wimbledon event will live long in the memory of Marin Cilic as it was the year that he went all the way to the final before losing to Roger Federer.
Cilic might have hoped to receive direct entry based on his exploits at the tournament previously, with the Croatian also making three quarter-finals during his career.
However, the list of direct entries has been released ahead of the tournament and Cilic isn’t included, meaning that he will need either a wildcard or to come through qualifying.
It represents a blow for Cilic, who recently reached the final of a Challenger event in Madrid and has been trying to revive his career a little bit at 36-years-old.
Final direct entries list for Wimbledon 2025
The decision to omit Cilic has likely come down to the number of players using protected rankings to enter the Grand Slam events this year.
Nick Kyrgios is one of those, and he’s joined in the draw by Sebastian Ofner, Emil Ruusuvuori and Jenson Brooksby.
The top alternatives list includes Nishesh Basavareddy, Brandon Holt, Billy Harris, Chris Eubanks and Ethan Quinn, alongside Cilic.
The last direct entry place went to the world number 100 Pablo Carreno Busta and now it remains to be seen whether we will see Cilic take to the court at Wimbledon this year or not.
