A former top 10 player has had their say on the rebrand of the WTA Tour and they did not hold back.

In one of the biggest talking points this week, the women’s circuit officially announced a new WTA logo and colour scheme.

With a new slogan titled Rally the World, the WTA Tour hopes their rebrand will help to further entertain fans, while creating new heroes and inspiring the next generation to pick up a racket.

But the response to the change has been a divisive one, and now one of those who will play under this rebrand has spoken out.

Former top 10 player Kristina Mladenovic speaks out on the WTA Tour’s rebrand

Some of the WTA’s best players were involved in the adverts and video shoots for the WTA’s Tour’s rebrand.

It has come at an odd time given the season is about to enter its third month, and some fans have voiced their complaints about the decision for the WTA Tour to change their colour scheme and logo.

One of the players has spoken out on the issue, as Kristina Mladenovic, the former World number 10, criticised the move.

“Wondering how you can come up with this and who approves? Green and white? No tennis details?,” the Frenchwoman wrote on social media platform X.

“What does it represent? The previous logo was so much better. @WTA.”

What have the WTA Tour said about their rebrand?

The WTA Tour’s rebrand and new identity is set to be rolled out at tournaments starting from March 2 at the Indian Wells Masters.

Commenting on the rebrand, the WTA’s CEO Portia Archer said: “The WTA has the largest global reach in women’s sport.

“The competitive landscape of sports and entertainment coupled with the ever-increasing momentum in women’s sport, create the perfect time to stand tall and take our leadership position alongside our incredible athletes and tournaments.

“This bold new brand provides a distinct and powerful voice to tell our stories and showcase the WTA as the global sports and entertainment brand where women’s tennis shines.

“We invite our fans around the world to join us as we rally the world and break even more boundaries in the years to come.”
