Novak Djokovic is hard at work preparing for his return to action.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion has not played sustaining a hamstring injury at the Australian Open.

This meant Djokovic retired from his semi-final against Alexander Zverev after just one set, therefore ending his hopes for an 11th title at Melbourne Park.

But the Serbian has made a recovery and is set to compete at the Qatar Open, where he is searching for a third title.

It was confirmed that Novak Djokovic’s hamstring issue was not as serious as initially feared.

Therefore, he was cleared to compete as he is being out through his paces ahead of trying to win the 100th ATP Tour title of his illustrious career.

Footage emerged on social media platform X of Djokovic practicing his return of serve. His hitting partner was serving while standing inside the baseline.

This is helping to further improve the 37-year-old’s reaction time on what is already arguably the best return in the history of the sport.

Djokovic was also filmed hitting several backhands cross court during the rallies as he tested lateral movement, and also successfully sprinted for a drop shot.

These are all positive signs that indicate the former World number one is ready for a return to action.

When was Novak Djokovic’s last appearance at the Qatar Open?

Djokovic is set to play at the Qatar Open for the first time since 2018.

He won the title in 2016 and 2017, beating Rafael Nadal and his coach Andy Murray in those finals respectively.

Djokovic confirmed that he will be at the event which commences on February 17 and will do all he can to try and win his 100th ATP title.

“Thank God, I was able to recover quickly. I’ve had more injuries lately than I did in the first 15 years of my career,” he told Montenegrin newspaper Vijesti on Monday.

“This probably comes with age, but my body still listens to me, I still have a burning flame and a desire to achieve new things.

“I hope that the 100th trophy can come to Doha right now. I’ve been chasing it for a long time – it will come when it should come.”
