Novak Djokovic has returned to Serbia from France after winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

Djokovic is donating his Olympic prize money to humanitarian causes, after beating Carlos Alcaraz in the final.

Serbia will build a museum in Djokovic’s honour, with the 37-year-old adding Olympic gold to his 24 Grand Slams.

Djokovic now has the US Open to look forward to, but he first stopped off in Serbia to celebrate his latest success.

He helped Serbia finish 27th in the overall medal standings, with the nation three golds, one silver and one bronze.

Djokovic had endured a tricky year before heading to Paris, with the veteran having been forced to withdraw from the French Open earlier this summer.

He then lost a second successive Wimbledon title to Alcaraz, but managed to enact his revenge on the Spaniard in France.

The Serbian public unsurprisingly adore their tennis star, with the country certain to be proud of their efforts at the Olympics.

Along with Djokovic’s gold, Serbia clinched the top prize in shooting and water polo, with a silver in taekwondo and a bronze in basketball.

Djokovic clearly enjoyed the celebrations, but his focus will quickly switch to the US Open, where he is a four-time champion.
