Flavio Cobolli has won his third ATP title at the Mexican Open after beating Frances Tiafoe in the final.
Cobolli enjoyed the best season of his career in 2025, but had struggled at the start of this year after winning just three of his first eight matches.
However, following the surprise early exits of Alexander Zverev, Alex de Minaur and Casper Ruud from the Mexican Open, Cobolli was able to take advantage and reach his first final of the year.
Cobolli beat Tiafoe 7-6(4), 6-4 in the final, and after his title victory he made a prediction about his opponent.

This is the second ATP 500 title of Cobolli’s career, and following his victory he paid credit to Tiafoe in the post-match ceremony.
Tiafoe has not won a title since 2023 and has now lost his last four finals, but Cobolli appears confident that this is going to be the first of many finals for the American this year.
“I want to say congrats for the week Frances, it’s always a pleasure to share the court with you,” said Cobolli. “Sorry for today, but like I said on the court it was my day sorry (laughs).
“I also want to say to your team, congrats on what you guys are doing all the year for him, for sure you’re going to be in many more finals this year. I wish you good luck.”

Cobolli later added, “When I was a kid, I was dreaming for this moment. For this kind of tournament, playing on the center court with people cheering for me. I’m very proud, not only for me, but also for the people that work for me — my dad, my family, the rest of my team. They will help me a lot.
“I think I deserve it for how I work outside the court. After the losses, I work again on court and I just want to say that I’m very proud of myself. It was a great match today, I think it was the best of the tournament for me. I never won against [Frances] before today, so I’m very happy.”

Just hours after his victory, Cobolli also took to social media to reflect on his week in Acapulco.
Cobolli wrote on Instagram, “Unforgettable week… ending in the best way possible. Thank you Acapulco for the incredible energy.
“Proud of the work we put in every single day with my team. This one hits different.”
Getting to lift the trophy is not the only reward that Cobolli will receive for his efforts in Acapulco, as he is now also confirmed to reach a career-high ranking.

Cobolli’s previous best ranking was world number 17, but he is confirmed to better that to world number 15.
The Italian will look to continue his resurgent form next week at Indian Wells, with the main draw set to get underway on Wednesday, March 4.
