Flavio Cobolli advanced to his second final of the season after defeating Alexander Zverev in the Munich Open semifinals.
Cobolli, who won the Mexican Open earlier this year, beat defending champion Zverev in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, to continue his incredibly impressive run in Munich.

The Italian has yet to drop a set at the ATP 500 tournament and has not even been forced to a decisive tiebreak.
His win over Zverev is just the second top-ten victory of his career, and first against a top-five player.
Ranked 16th in the world, Cobolli is now just one win away from claiming his fourth tour-level title.

Speaking in his on-court interview after the match, Cobolli said: “[That was] one of my best matches ever.
“He (Zverev) is one of my biggest friends on tour. He’s very inspiring for me, and he’s a really good guy.
“His team has helped me a lot during the season. We have a good relationship also with everyone on his team.

“So it was also a little bit tough to play against him. I’m a little bit shy when I play with a big player. But today I think I played one of my best matches.
“I’m really happy about the performance, about how I managed the difficult periods during the match. Now I think I’m ready to fight again, and we’ll see how it happens tomorrow.”

With the semifinal triumph over Zverev, Cobolli is now through to his fourth ATP 500 final, having previously managed the feat in Washington, Hamburg and Acapulco.
Among players born since 2000, Cobolli is now joint-fourth in ATP 500 finals made, equalling the tally of Ben Shelton.
Only Felix Auger-Aliassime, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have featured in more title bouts at the level than Cobolli.
