Flavio Cobolli and Matteo Berrettini led Italy to their third consecutive Davis Cup title in Bologna.
Italy were without Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti at the Davis Cup Finals this year, with their top two ranked singles players electing not to compete in Bologna.
However, that did not seem to matter, as Cobolli and Berrettini won all of their matches, culminating in Italy beating Spain in the Davis Cup final.
Berrettini supported childhood friend Cobolli from the sidelines in the second singles match, and now they have both made their first posts on social media after winning the Davis Cup.

This is the second consecutive year where Berrettini has been part of a winning Davis Cup team, continuing his impressive record in the competition.
Making reference to Italy’s recent dominance in the Davis Cup, Berrettini wrote, “Oops… It happened again!!! (followed by emojis of the Italian flag, a trophy and a blue heart).”
While Berrettini had experienced winning a Davis Cup before, this was the first time he had done it in front of his home crowd in Bologna.

However, this was a completely new feeling for Cobolli, who had not competed in the knockout stages of the Davis Cup Finals before.
After sealing the crucial win over Munar to win the title for his nation, Cobolli has now written his own message on social media.
He said, “The champions of the world! An incredible dream came true. The best week of my life. (blue heart emoji and Italian flag emoji).”

The depth of Italian tennis has been evidenced by the fact that they won the Davis Cup without both of their two top 10 players.
Berrettini won all three of his matches at the Davis Cup Finals in straight sets, but he is actually still the Italian number six.
In total, Italy have eight players currently ranked inside the top 100 of the ATP rankings, which is more than any other non-Grand Slam nation.

The success of Italian tennis is not just exclusive to the ATP Tour either, with Jasmine Paolini remaining in the top 10 throughout this year.
Paolini also helped Italy win the Billie Jean King Cup for a second successive year, with the nation seeming tough to stop at the moment.
