Felix Auger-Aliassime secured his ninth ATP title after winning the Montpellier final against Adrian Mannarino.

The Canadian defeated Mannarino in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5, to hoist the trophy in the French city for a second consecutive year.

Auger-Aliassime’s season got off to an unfortunate start, with the 25-year-old having retired from his first-round match at the Australian Open due to cramp.

He has since bounced back in Montpellier, however, beating Stan Wawrinka, Arthur Fils, Titouan Droguet and Mannarino en route to the title.

After his triumph, Auger-Aliassime had high praise for the runner-up.

In his on-court interview after the match, he said: “Adrian is always a very tough opponent to play I think for all players.

“That’s why I think, you know, myself and all our peers on tour have so much respect for him and the career and the challenges he poses on the court.

“So, you know, I knew it was going to be tough match today. I’m very happy, it’s amazing emotions to win again here, I mean I’m thrilled, I’m thrilled with my whole week and especially today.

Who will join Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in a new ‘big three’?

“Every opponent is different, obviously, and I hadn’t played a lefty in a long time, so on the return, it’s a very different challenge.

“We all know that, so it was not easy. At times, I was struggling, but I think my goal was sometimes just to keep my serve and at least, you know, I give myself a chance to stay in the match and stay in the set so, yeah, really happy with how I took care of things on my serve, for sure.”

Felix Auger-Aliassime makes history for Canada

With his victory, Auger-Aliassime has now won the most men’s singles titles of any Canadian player in the Open Era.

He surpassed former Wimbledon finalist Milos Raonic, who announced his retirement from tennis earlier this year.

All of Auger-Aliassime’s titles have come at ATP 500 level or below, with three of his crowns being secured in 2025.

He has come close to winning a Masters title, having made the final of the Paris Masters in 2025 and the Madrid Open in 2024.

Auger-Aliassime’s best result at a Grand Slam is a semifinal finish, which he managed at the US Open in 2021 and 2025.
