Feliciano Lopez explains how he felt after Rafael Nadal defeat

Well, it’s fair to say that the Spaniard felt the defeat for Nadal was a bittersweet moment the other day.

Lopez enjoyed a solid but unspectacular career as a professional winning seven titles on the tour.

His best result at a Grand Slam was only ever the quarter-final, reaching three at Wimbledon and one at the US Open.

Lopez achieved a career-high number 12 in the world rankings and he admitted a tinge of sadness when Nadal lost this week.

He told Sky Sports Tennis: “It was very unexpected and it was very emotional because every day he played here we thought it might be the last match but he kept winning.

“The last one was emotional. But, I’m happy for him because he made some progress. Just to have him back on the court is good news and I’m very happy for him.”
