Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner lit up Court Philippe-Chatrier in their thrilling five set French Open final.

Alcaraz beat Sinner in the French Open final, with the Spaniard saving three championship points to do so.

This five hour and 29 minute final has received a huge reaction, with Coco Gauff and Roger Federer messaging Alcaraz after he defended his French Open title.

The highly dramatic final between Alcaraz and Sinner has received much praise for the level they produced and now a big prediction has been made about their Grand Slam future.

Both the Grand Slam titles this year have been won by Alcaraz and Sinner, who defended his Australian Open title earlier this year.

When discussing this French Open final on the Nothing Major podcast, former world number 21 Steve Johnson was asked if he thinks Alcaraz and Sinner can win 18 of the next 20 major tournaments.

Johnson could not argue against that happening and sent a warning to the rest of the ATP Tour.

“It is hard to bet against that,” said Johnson. “Their level is astonishing and then when they get to play one another it just gets played.

“It’s one of those things we are lucky as tennis fans and spectators that we get to watch these two guys at 21 and 22 years old do this in a sport that they haven’t even both hit their primes yet, which is amazing for those two guys and scary for the rest of the tour.

“I don’t think these guys are going to lose matches at slams. First, second, third round to anyone. These guys are way too good. They are too competitive. They don’t take days off. It’s crazy to think that I believe Sinner is 91-3 against everyone else in the last couple of years and he is 0-5 against Carlos. Those are insane numbers for himself.”

Men’s Grand Slam singles champions since 2024

Since the start of the 2024 season, all six of the men’s Grand Slam titles have gone to either Sinner or Alcaraz.

The top two ranked ATP players have evenly split these major titles, with Sinner winning all the Grand Slams on hard courts, while Alcaraz has dominated the natural surfaces.

Sinner lost his first Grand Slam final to Alcaraz at the French Open, with the other major runners-up including Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, Novak Djokovic and Taylor Fritz.

The next Grand Slam tournament is Wimbledon, where Alcaraz is a two-time defending champion.

Sinner’s best result at the grass court major is reaching the semi-finals, and he will be looking to better that when the tournament begins on Monday, June 30.
