Emma Raducanu picks the ‘amazing’ former Wimbledon finalist she would pick as her coach

The former US Open champion was looking to return to winning ways in Dubai.

Emma Raducanu hadn’t enjoyed the best of starts to her 2025 WTA Tour campaign before making her way to Dubai.

The world number 61 lost to Iga Swiatek in the third round of the Australian Open, her best performance at a tournament this year.

Raducanu then lost to Spain’s Cristina Bucsa in the first round of the Singapore Open, 7-5, 5-7, 5-7, ahead of her trip to the Middle East.

In a battle of former Grand Slam champions, Raducanu fell to Marketa Vondrousova in Abu Dhabi, 3-6, 4-6.

A fourth-straight defeat followed as Ekaterina Alexandrova beat Raducanu in the first round of the Qatar Open.

Finally returning to winning ways, Raducanu beat Greek star Maria Sakkari at the Dubai Tennis Championships to advance to the round of 32.

It was there that she fell to Karolina Muchova in straight sets, as she now reveals who among her WTA rivals she would most like to join her coaching team.

Emma Raducanu wants ‘amazing’ Ons Jabeur to coach her ‘one day’

During an interview with Arab News, Raducanu was asked to pick a WTA star she would like to see become her coach.

“I would want Ons Jabeur to coach me because I think she has an amazing energy,” she said.

“I think she’s a really caring person, really generous person.

“Funny but has a great eye for the game and is obviously pretty tactical as well with the way she plays and has a lot at her disposal.

“So maybe one day, Ons.”

Raducanu is currently without a coach, having split with Nick Cavaday earlier in the year.

Several names have been suggested to the Brit, as former doubles number one Rennae Stubbs offered to coach Raducanu recently.

“I would consider it, of course,” said Stubbs.

“I would never say no to an opportunity of working with a Grand Slam champion.”

It has also been suggested that Emma Raducanu bring Goran Ivanisevic on board as a coach following his departure from Elena Rybakina’s team.

The Croat enjoyed real success alongside Novak Djokovic, helping him win nine of his 24 Major titles.

What happened when Emma Raducanu played Ons Jabeur in 2024?

Raducanu’s ‘dream’ coach is unlikely to join her team as the Tunisian star continues to perform at the highest level on the WTA Tour.

But what happened when the pair faced off for the first time at the Abu Dhabi Open last year?

Playing for a place in the quarter-finals, Jabeur showed her class as she clinched the first set, 6-4.

Stepping into another gear in the second set, the former world number two sealed a convnicing 6-4, 6-1 victory.

Her first serve was impressive throughout, winning 83% of her points behind it, compared to Raducanu’s 53%.

The pair have yet to face off again on the WTA Tour but could do so next month at the Indian Wells tournament.

Jabeur will enter the event as the 32nd and final seed and will look to improve on her previous results in California, where she has struggled to perform.
