Emma Raducanu has made a sweet offer to a fan after receiving criticism following a US Open practice session.
The 21-year-old is back in New York preparing to play in the tournament she shockingly won without dropping a set in 2021.
Raducanu has struggled with injuries and the burden of being a Grand Slam champion in the three years since her historic triumph.
But she has enjoyed a solid summer on the grass and after Raducanu reached the quarter-finals at Washington’s Citi Open, she is ready to try and conquer Flushing Meadows once again.
What was the offer Emma Raducanu made to a fan at the US Open?
Emma Raducanu came under fire from social media users after choosing not to stop for any photos or autographs after a practice session ahead of the US Open.
A young fan who was hoping to meet the Bromley local, spoke of her admiration for the player during an interview at the court, but the star did not stop to acknowledge her following the session.
Following the outrage from other fans, the current World number 71 acknowledged the oversight and took to X to address the fan and offered to meet her at a later date.
“To the little girl far up in the stands who said I was her favourite player at this morning’s practice, I heard you and it made my heart smile,” Raducanu wrote.
“I’m very sorry I had to rush off after practice and I couldn’t see you near the court but please forgive me and I hope to find a way to meet you or arrange a signed something or photo.”

Who will Emma Raducanu play at the US Open?
Raducanu has a tricky opening match at the 2024 US Open. She will commence her campaign against America’s Sofia Kenin.
Like Raducanu, the 25-year-old is a Grand Slam winner and she joined that elite club by winning the 2020 Australian Open.
Kenin has struggled throughout the 2024 season and has lost four of her last five matches since Iga Swiatek defeated her at Wimbledon.
This is set to be an evenly-contested match in what will be the first meeting between these two former major winners.
