Emma Raducanu had not commented publicly on her health until now.

Raducanu reached her first final since winning the US Open in February at the Transylvania Open in Romania, where she was ultimately beaten by Sorana Cirstea.

However, it was at this tournament where she first contracted a viral illness, which has subsequently caused Raducanu to withdraw from the Madrid Open, Linz Open and the Miami Open.

Raducanu has not played a match since Indian Wells, but she has now broken her silence with less than four weeks to go until the French Open.

Emma Raducanu has positive update after withdrawing from three tournaments

Raducanu has not played a match on clay this year, with just the Italian Open on her schedule ahead of the French Open.

The Briton has now taken to Instagram to show her fans some of the things she has been doing during her time away from the WTA Tour, with Raducanu sharing a collection of pictures mostly of her away from the tennis court, with the caption ‘spring clean’.

Raducanu received messages on this post from fellow WTA players Paula Badosa, Eva Lys and Elena Gabriela-Ruse, who all sent well wishes to the 23-year-old.

However, what was perhaps most notable was Raducanu’s response to a tennis fan, who wrote, “I can’t wait to see you back out on court soon. I hope you’re feeling a lot better now.”

Raducanu gave a positive reply to this message, “Much better thank you x”, indicating that a return to court may be sooner than perhaps some feared.

Will Emma Raducanu be seeded at the French Open this year?

With Raducanu now potentially gearing up for the Italian Open next week, she now faces a battle to be seeded for the French Open this year.

Raducanu is currently the world number 27, which is currently high enough to be seeded for the French Open, but she still has some work to do to secure this position.

Last year at the Italian Open, Raducanu achieved her best result at a clay court WTA 1000 tournament by reaching the fourth round.

As a result, this means that Raducanu will be defending 120 points at this year’s tournament, but she is only 59 points away from dropping out of the seeded places for the French Open.

Therefore, Raducanu would likely need to reach the third round in Rome if she is to have a chance of being seeded at the French Open this year.

Raducanu does have the luxury of being seeded at the Italian Open, which subsequently means that she receives an automatic bye to the second round.

The Italian Open gets underway on Tuesday, May 5, but Raducanu will not play her first match until either Thursday or Friday if she makes her return in Rome.
