Emma Navarro reached her maiden major quarter-final this year at Wimbledon as she has shot into the WTA’s top 15.
With three of the four finalists at the Toronto Open representing the USA, Emma Navarro’s rise to the top of the WTA is no longer going unnoticed.
With a clever baseline game, Navarro has managed to forge her own path on the tour, winning her maiden WTA title in Hobart earlier this year.
Amanda Anisimova’s run in Toronto has been the main attraction however, with the 22-year-old edging past Navarro in three close sets on Sunday.
Navarro however still has cause to celebrate, with the American improving her ranking even further, set to rise to a career high of 13 when the tournament ends.

Emma Navarro is excited about what the future might bring
Very little has managed to get in the way of Navarro’s impressive ascension in 2024.
Despite narrowly losing to Anisimova, she was overwhelmingly positive, with her run to the last four marking the first time she has reached a WTA 1000 semi-final.
“It’s pretty crazy that being top 10 could be on the horizon for me, it’s definitely exciting and motivating for sure,” she said in her post-match press conference on Sunday.
“I haven’t really thought too far ahead but WTA finals would be an amazing opportunity so a boost of confidence that I know I can play at this level.”
With only Iga Swiatek having confirmed her spot at the WTA Finals in Riyadh, the race is certainly on for Navarro as she plans a successful next few months.
Can Emma Navarro go one better and reach the semi-finals of the US Open
With Coco Gauff’s victorious US Open run last year, Navarro has been quick to praise American tennis as an all-American final between Jessica Pegula and Anisimova is set to take place on Monday.
Navarro’s success has been marked by the steady but nonetheless quick progress she has made this year.
Her deepest run into a major when she reached the fourth round of the French Open was quickly usurped by her Wimbledon run to the last eight.
She is making a habit of not only exceeding expectations, but also increasingly looking very comfortable and confident on these bigger stages.
While the US Open is a big ask, her run in Toronto is only proof that she is ready to not only handle the pressure, but boost her seeding ahead of the tournament and hand herself an easier draw.
