Elina Svitolina has enjoyed a fantastic start to her 2026 season, winning the ASB Classic title in Auckland.

World number 13 Svitolina defeated Wang Xinyu 6-3, 7-6(8-6) in the ASB Classic final for her 19th WTA Tour career title.

Elina Svitolina left emotional after ASB Classic title in Auckland

The Ukrainian star has now issued an emotional message on social media after claiming the title in Auckland.

Svitolina posted on Instagram: “Title No. 19. This trophy is not just a number. It’s about the journey – about tears, exhaustion, doubts, and the faith that doesn’t let you stop. The end of 2025 was not easy for me. There were moments when it felt like I had no strength left.

“But that was when the people around me held me up when I couldn’t hold myself. Thank you to my team – for your professionalism, patience, and belief in me, even when I doubted myself.

“Thank you to my family – for a love that is stronger than any result. Thank you to my friends – for your support, for always being there, not only in moments of victory. I treasure it the most.

“I’m proud that after such a difficult period, I was able to come back and win again. Every title has a story. Title No. 19 tells one of heart, resilience and the courage to come back.”

Men’s tennis icon Monfils is married to the WTA Tour star, while Premier League ace Zinchenko also hails from Ukraine.

Very fittingly, Monfils won the exact same tournament in 2025, and the Frenchman was in attendance to see his wife follow in his footsteps.

It’s the dream start to 2026 for the 31-year-old, who should be a force to be reckoned with at the Australian Open.
