Elina Svitolina has shared what she’s trying to do ahead of the French Open that starts later this month.

The Ukrainian star has struggled with fitness problems this year and is trying desperately to get back to her best.

Svitolina had to withdraw at 0-3 down against Linda Noskova at the Australian Open after reaching the fourth round.

Since then she has been striving to get herself fit and did show some promising signs at the Italian Open.

Although she lost in three sets to Aryna Sabalenka, she put up a real fight and almost caused a shock result.

Now, she’s shared what she has tweaked in her preparation to ensure she’s in the best possible shape.

Elina Svitolina on training adjustment she’s had to make

At 29-years-old, time is perhaps running out for Svitolina to make the winner’s circle at a major event.

Her best run at a Grand Slam has been the semi-final of Wimbledon twice and once at the US Open.

Winning one looks a long way off right now, although she’s determined to keep plugging away.

With injuries taking over in 2024, Svitolina is keen to ensure she goes to Roland Garros in tip-top shape and gives it her best shot.

Now, Svitolina has shared how she has tweaked her training regime ahead of the next Grand Slam of the year.

She told Eurosport on TikTok“I have big goals for myself but first it’s ultimate goals that I have but I have to put the work in. I have to be patient.

“I have to go through tough moments and accept that my body is not the same anymore and adjust my training and my rest. It’s about taking every day as it is and just try to work with that.”

Svitalina one of the most likable players on tour

In our view, we seriously hope that the Ukrainian player can get back to her best in order to compete at the business end of tournaments.

In 2018, Svitolina won the Tour Finals and in 2020 she won bronze at the Olympics.

Svitolina has won no fewer than 17 career titles and right now she sits at number 19 in the world.

At Roland Garros, Svitolina has reached four quarter-finals and she can be a dangerous draw for some of the top players in Paris.

With a more micro-managed training schedule, the right-handed star might be one to watch when the French Open gets underway.
