Elena Rybakina is no longer in the Australian Open after losing in three sets to in-form American Madison Keys.
Rybakina began her season at the United Cup, following an injury and illness disrupted 2024 that saw her play only four matches after the US Open.
This also coincided with a new coaching arrangement, as Rybakina hired Goran Ivanisevic following her split from Stefano Vukov.
Ivanisevic had split from Novak Djokovic in March 2024, before beginning to coach his first player on the WTA Tour.
However, things took a turn after Rybakina announced that Vukov would be joining her in Melbourne.

Elena Rybakina confirms whether she will keep working with Goran Ivanisevic
Ivanisevic casted doubt over the Rybakina partnership, when asked about her former coach potentially being added to the team.
After her loss to Keys in Melbourne, Rybakina was questioned about Ivanisevic and what her intentions going forward with him are.
“Well, we still need to talk, of course, because as I said, we just tried the pre=season, and these couple of tournaments it was something just getting used to each other,” Rybakina said in her post-match press conference. “We will definitely talk how the next schedule is going to look like.”
Rybakina is currently planning to head to the Middle East and play in Abu Dhabi, where she is the defending champion, before competing at back-to-back WTA 1000 tournaments in Doha and Dubai.
Elena Rybakina provides update on former coach Stefano Vukov
Despite revealing that Vukov would be joining her in Melbourne, the WTA released a statement to confirm that the Croatian was under investigation and had been suspended.
As a result, Vukov was unable to attend any of Rybakina’s matches at the Australian Open this year.
This is something that Rybakina has continually declared she is not happy about, and has now spoken about whether the ongoing matter affected her performances in Melbourne.
“Well, definitely, as I said before, this is not the situation I want to be or someone wants to be,” said Rybakina. “Of course, I want to have who I want in the box, but I couldn’t change it.
“In the end of the day, I just tried to focus on my matches, and I spoke with him. I also have Goran, so it didn’t affect the way I played today or any of the result, I think.”
