Thomas Johansson has confirmed he has split with Daniil Medvedev shortly after his Wimbledon exit.
Medvedev was the eighth seed at Wimbledon, but fell to Jan-Lennard Struff in the third round of the Grand Slam.
That early exit arrived after victories over Marin Cilic and Daniel Merida Aguilar at the All England Club in London.
But Medvedev is set for a coaching switch-up following the tournament, with the Russian now thanking the Swede for their time together.
What will Daniil Medvedev’s ranking be at the end of the 2026 season?
Could Medvedev make a return to the top five?
Thomas Johansson announces Daniil Medvedev split after Wimbledon
Confirming the split on social media, Johansson posted on Instagram: “After almost one year working together, Daniil and I have decided to part ways.
“I want to thank Daniil for his trust and his hard work during this time and I wish him and his team all the best for the future.”
And Medvedev shared the post on his Instagram story, writing the message: “Thank you [Thomas] for the great work.
“It’s been a pleasure and appreciate all you have done.”

Medvedev hired Johansson shortly after the 2025 US Open, having split with his long-term coach Gilles Cervara.
The Swede, who won the 2002 Australian Open during his playing career, worked with several other players before Medvedev, including David Goffin and Sorana Cirstea.
Daniil Medvedev continues roller-coaster ATP season at Wimbledon
It’s been a roller-coaster season for Medvedev to say the least, with the Russian currently ranked ninth on the ATP Tour.
He’s been one of the standout players with two titles won, having emerged victorious in Brisbane and Dubai.
But the 30-year-old Russian has been really disappointing at the three Grand Slam tournaments of 2026 so far.
Medvedev lost in the fourth round of the Australian Open, with a first round exit at the French Open then followed by his third round loss at Wimbledon.
He does, of course, have one more tournament to recover, with the US Open returning to New York later this year.
And he may be feeling upbeat about his chances in New York, having claimed his only Grand Slam title there in 2021.
