Daniil Medvedev is set to make his 10th appearance at the French Open this year.

The Russian has enjoyed a promising clay swing thus far, having quickly improved after his shocking 6-0, 6-0 defeat to Matteo Berrettini in Monte-Carlo.

Since then, Medvedev has made the fourth round in Madrid and the semifinals in Rome, where he almost knocked out eventual champion Jannik Sinner.

What will Daniil Medvedev’s ranking be at the end of the 2026 season?

Could Medvedev make a return to the top five?

He forced the world number one to a third set in the final four of the Italian Open, and could have been closing in on a victory were it not for a rain delay.

Now, he will look to make a deep run in Paris, where he has been handed a rather favourable draw.

Daniil Medvedev given a favourable draw at Roland Garros

Medvedev has only ever made it as far as the quarterfinals at the French Open, a finish he managed during the 2021 season.

This time around, however, Medvedev’s path to a maiden semifinal in Paris looks promising, starting with Adam Walton in the opening round.

His second round opponent will either be out-of-form Alexei Popyrin or Zachary Svajda, while a likely assignment in round three is Francisco Cerundolo.

Which round will Novak Djokovic make at the French Open?

The Serb made the semifinals in 2025…

While there are some great players in Medvedev’s quarter of the draw, none look as though they can defeat Medvedev currently.

Felix Auger-Aliassime, Flavio Cobolli and Learner Tien are amongst the names in Medvedev’s section.

Of course, should Medvedev make the semifinals, he will face the most difficult task in tennis right now: beating Sinner.

Daniil Medvedev’s campaign at Roland Garros last year

Medvedev’s 2025 season on the ATP Tour was certainly one to forget for the most part, and Roland Garros was no exception.

In the first round of the tournament last year, Medvedev took on Cameron Norrie, whom he had never lost to in the four previous bouts.

Norrie took a two-set lead in the match, and Medvedev fought back to force a fifth set, but the Briton ultimately came away with the victory.

It marked Medvedev’s first opening-round exit at a Grand Slam, and would end up being one of three for the season.
