Daniil Medvedev is one of six top 10 players lacing up for the Laver Cup in Berlin with Team Europe bidding to avenge last year’s defeat to team World.
The laver cup is fast approaching with its seventh edition taking place in Berlin.
Last year, Team World pulled off a stunning 13-2 Victory with a much depleted European contingent struggling at nearly every turn.
This year, however, Europe have upped the ante with world number two Alexander Zverev and four-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz set to compete.
Rafael Nadal’s last minute Laver Cup withdrawal sees another top 10 player added to the European roster with Grigor Dimitrov the latest arrival.

Daniil Medvedev admits his excitement at playing with Carlos Alcaraz at the Laver Cup
With the start of the event on September 20, Russian number one Daniil Medvedev is another big name set to return having missed last year.
Speaking before Friday’s opening match, he highlighted his optimism and determination to bring the trophy back to Europe.
“For me, the most exciting thing about Laver Cup is always the team spirit, because it’s very rare that I get to play team competitions in tennis,” the world number five said to Tennis.com.
With Alcaraz set to make his debut the Russian highlighted how crucial a role the Spaniard will play, along with Zverev, who makes his fifth appearance at the event.
“Having Carlos and Sascha on our team will help a lot because they are two of the best players in the world and I’m really excited to try and get Team Europe back to their winning ways.”
Who else is competing at the Laver Cup?
Exactly 12 months ago a slightly confusingly named team world was made up exclusively of North American players besides Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo, who returns this year.
This year, however, they welcome several new faces, including Chile’s Alejandro Tabilo and Australian Open doubles champion Thanasi Kokkinakis.
A strong American showing does still remain, with Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, and Ben Shelton competing. Fritz highlighted his excitement at returning to the Laver Cup, with the 26-year-old the highest ranked for Team World.
Casper Ruud and Stefanos Tsitsipas complete Team Europe’s dazzling squad.
