Danielle Collins, as every tennis fan knows, is enjoying the season of her life.

Having reached a career-high ranking of seventh and won a Masters 1000 event too, it seems a shame that the 30-year-old has already decided that this will be her final year of playing professionally.

However, despite her love for the game potentially waning, her desire to keep improving clearly has not.

After all, she is still seeking advice even after wins, and has now gone to the best of the best in Martina Navratilova.

Martina Navratilova gives Danielle Collins Wimbledon advice

Speaking on the Tennis Channel panel after her first-round win over Clara Tauson, she sought advice from the legendary pundit who sat across from her.

After all, for all her successes this season, grass poses a completely unique challenge for players to contend with.

So who better to consult than Navratilova, who won a whopping nine Wimbledon titles?

She had the following advice: ’One tip I will give for the footwork: you cannot push off the same way as you do on hard courts so stay lower and then take smaller steps. Imagine having bare feet, so you automatically take smaller steps when you don’t have any protection.’

Danielle Collins responded in typically upbeat fashion, and then had a proposition for her: ‘Oh that’s a great tip. Hey, maybe you can get out on court a little bit and give me a little advice.’

Whilst the result of today’s match against Dalma Gálfi remains undecided, regardless this remains merely a continuation of her remarkable form throughout 2024.

With Collins having announced her plans to retire at the end of the year, many were set to celebrate a solid if unspectacular career spanning over a decade.

And yet, perhaps even beyond her wildest dreams, has come this season.

Starting the year with just two WTA titles, she has blazed past that to four now, one of which being her first-ever Masters 1000 event in Miami.

She has overcome some of the best this generation of tennis has to offer, and shows no signs of slowing down as we cruise through the grass season.
