Alexander Zverev continues his quest for redemption after the Australian Open when he takes on the Rio Open this week.
Zverev lost the Australian Open final to Jannik Sinner last month, representing his third Grand Slam final loss in as many attempts.
ATP number two Zverev loves training sessions, with his latest coming alongside fellow professional Luciano Darderi in Rio.
Zverev is the top seed at the ATP 500 event, where he takes on Chinese ace Yunchaokete Bu in the round of 32.
It comes after he fell in the quarter-finals of the Argentina Open, in his first tournament since losing the Australian Open final.

Alexander Zverev spotted with biceps issue in Rio Open practice
Prior to that run, Zverev said the balls on tour are causing injuries to players, with the German now suffering one of his own ahead of the Rio Open.
As per Jose Morgado, Zverev “got his right biceps tapped,” although it is “not a new injury” for the 27-year-old.
Including his United Cup appearances, the three-time Grand Slam finalist is currently 9-2 for the 2025 season so far.
Alexander Zverev needs Rio Open win after Australian Open heartache
Zverev’s Australian Open final heartache will have been damaging in more ways than one, with the player perhaps left wondering if he will ever get over the line.
Worryingly, however, his latest major defeat came in straight sets, with Zverev having lost his two previous Grand Slam finals in five-set battles.
The Argentina Open perhaps came too soon for the German, with Francisco Cerundolo winning their quarter-final tie before losing the final to Joao Fonseca.
There will be pressure on the top seed to perform at the Rio Open, and while the competition will be tough, Zverev really should be thinking of nothing but winning the title.
| Rank | Win-loss | Titles | Prize money | |
| 2025 | 2 | 9-2 | 0 | $1,522,060 |
| Career | 2 | 472-200 | 23 | $51,735,261 |
He boasts a superb 23 ATP Tour titles, but his most recent came at the ATP Masters 1000 Paris at the start of November.
A Rio Open success would do his confidence the world of good, particularly as the French Open rapidly approaches.
