Iga Swiatek continues her quest for further success on the WTA Tour this week as she takes on the Madrid Open.
Swiatek remains second in the WTA rankings heading into the Madrid Open, having just lost in the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix quarter-finals.
She fell to Jelena Ostapenko in Stuttgart, with their head-to-head record now reading 6-0 in favour of the Latvian.
Swiatek is yet to win on the WTA Tour in 2025, but has another chance of glory in Madrid, where she opens against Alexandra Eala.
Eala stunned the Pole in their only career meeting to date at the Miami Open, winning their quarter-final clash in March.

CoCo Vandeweghe issues concern about Iga Swiatek before the Madrid Open
Ahead of that match, former player CoCo Vandeweghe has shared her take on the WTA number two, after Swiatek claimed in her opening Madrid Open press conference that people had high expectations of her but have no idea what is going on in her life.
Asked for her reaction to the player bringingother people’s thoughts and what they think and say into her response to that question, Vandeweghe said on TC Live: “I think that is very insightful as to where she is at mentally.
“I think that is something that has been a bit of a chink in the armour of late, as we are seeing a lot more explosions of emotions.
“An explosion of emotion from Iga is what I would call breaking a racket or hitting a ball out the stadium, that would have meant nothing to me, but because she has been so stoic for so long it’s more aggressive.
“It’s like woah. Just like when we saw Carlos Alcaraz break that racket in Cincinnati, that was just a huge shock.
“What I am more concerned about, is that because she is one of these players that has been open about her mental health, she travels with a mental coach.
“What is going on between the two? Is there a new conversation going on? Is she trying to work on things and it’s not working?
“Plus she is not with Tomasz [Wiktorowski] any more. She is with Wim Fissette and somebody not from Poland.
“She has been very open and honest that she wants to stick with the Polish demographic. It’s more comfortable for her. How long does Wim Fissette stick around?
“I think it’s very possible, if not this tournament but at Roland Garros that she gets passed over for number two.”
CoCo Vandeweghe predicts the winner of Iga Swiatek vs Alexandra Eala
Swiatek will have been left hugely disappointed and frustrated by that loss to Eala in Miami, where she was the second seed.
The Filipino teenager meanwhile lost her semi-final with Jessica Pegula shortly after, with the American then losing the final to Aryna Sabalenka.
Swiatek will, however, be confident of shining on clay, having won four of her five Grand Slam titles at the French Open.
But her frustrations have been evident this season, with Swiatek smashing her racket in her Qatar Open meeting with Ostapenko.
Vandeweghe is, however, expecting a recovery from the Pole on her most successful surface, having been asked for a prediction on the outcome of Swiatek versus Eala.
“I think revenge is a dish best served cold and I think Iga is going to serve a bit of revenge in clay court season,” she said.
