Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner do not appear to need any help at the Grand Slam tournaments.
Alcaraz and Sinner have won the last eight Grand Slam titles between them, claiming complete dominance over the rest of the ATP Tour.
This has included playing each other in the last three major finals, with Alcaraz beating Sinner to win the US Open in their most recent.
Despite being head and shoulders above the rest of the field, Coco Gauff’s former coach Brad Gilbert has called for a Grand Slam rule to change which could benefit Alcaraz and Sinner even more.

Brad Gilbert calls for Grand Slams to change which could impact Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner
Gilbert is very active on social media, and is often commenting on current goings-on in the sport even though he is not coaching a player at the moment.
This was the case again when he responded to a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), explaining why Taylor Fritz was the world number six over Alex de Minaur even though they have the same number of ranking points.
Gilbert replied by suggesting that it did not matter who was world number six and who was number seven in terms of seedings at the Grand Slams.
Players seeded five to eight are forecasted to come up against players seeded one to four at Grand Slams, but Gilbert believes it should be more specific than that.
He wrote, “No difference between 6-7 seed in slams or big @atptour tournaments as they go in groups of 4 from round of 16 on, should be 1-2 vs 7-8 instead of 1-2 vs 5-8 in quarters, should never be 1 vs 5.”
If this rule were to come into play, it could be beneficial to both Alcaraz and Sinner as the current top two seeds, as they would theoretically be guaranteed a better draw in the quarterfinals.
Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner’s Head-to-Head vs current top 10 players
Alcaraz and Sinner have been the dominant forces on the ATP Tour again in 2025, losing a combined 15 matches between them.
They have also been able to improve their head-to-head against their fellow top 10 players, with Alcaraz also having the advantage over Sinner.
Who will join Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in a new ‘big three’?
Alcaraz is the only person to beat every top 10 player this year, with Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev being the only two players he does not have a winning head-to-head against.
While for Sinner, the only player he does not have the advantage over other than Alcaraz is Jack Draper.
| Carlos Alcaraz Vs | Jannik Sinner Vs | |
| Carlos Alcaraz | – | 10-6 Alcaraz |
| Jannik Sinner | 10-6 Alcaraz | – |
| Alexander Zverev | 6-6 | 6-4 Sinner |
| Novak Djokovic | 5-4 Djokovic | 6-4 Sinner |
| Felix Auger-Aliassime | 5-3 Alcaraz | 4-2 Sinner |
| Taylor Fritz | 5-1 Alcaraz | 4-1 Sinner |
| Alex de Minaur | 3-0 Alcaraz | 13-0 Sinner |
| Lorenzo Musetti | 7-1 Alcaraz | 3-0 Sinner |
| Ben Shelton | 3-0 Alcaraz | 8-1 Sinner |
| Jack Draper | 4-2 Alcaraz | 1-1 |
Sinner is likely to be particularly in favour of this rule coming into play, as it would currently ensure that he would be forecasted to play either De Minaur or Lorenzo Musetti in the quarterfinals of Grand Slams.
With a combined head-to-head record of 16-0 in his favour, Sinner is likely to feel very confident that he could beat either player at the Australian Open next year.
