Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka are just two of the players from the WTA Tour on a mission to make waves at the French Open.
The top two players in the world were both in good form as they came through first-round matches in some style.
Sabalenka won her first match for the loss of just one game against Kamilla Rakhimova, whilst Gauff was made to work a bit harder, winning 6-3, 6-2 against Australian player Olivia Gadecki.
Gauff won the US Open in 2023 and is still waiting to land a second Grand Slam title, much to the surprise of many in the world of tennis.
The American is currently trying to chase down Sabalenka to become the world’s best female player, and it would appear there is a lot of respect from Gauff for the Belarusian.

Coco Gauff shares what Aryna Sabalenka does better than anyone else
The world’s number one player will be aiming to win another Grand Slam to add to the three that she currently has to her name.
At the French Open, things have sometimes been a struggle, and she awaits a first final at Roland Garros.
Gauff is clearly a huge fan of Sabalenka, and she believes there is one thing that she does which is better than any other player on the tour.
She said in her press conference: “Probably consistency. To be number one, you have to win a lot. Aryna has been winning a lot. And the years when Iga was mainly the number one, she was winning a lot.
“I think just consistency on tour, and each year you learn how to manage that consistency. It’s not easy when you are winning. It may look like that, but it’s not because when you are winning matches, you are playing more matches and have to learn how to manage the year.
“I think both of them probably manage the year pretty well. So I think, for me, to reach that point, there are parts of my game I have to change, but also it comes with experience and learning how to manage the year.”
What Coco Gauff did before her French Open match is hilarious
Thankfully, Gauff saw the funny side of this, with the American player forgetting a vital piece of equipment before her opening match.
After walking to her seat at the side of the court, Gauff started getting everything ready, only to realise that she’d forgotten to take her rackets with her!
It’s pretty tricky to play tennis without a racket, and thankfully, Gauff was able to rectify the situation pretty quickly before taking on Gadecki.
The women’s game looks as competitive as ever, and it remains to be seen whether Sabalenka, Gauff or someone completely different wins the title this time.
