Coco Gauff won her first WTA Finals after beating Qinwen Zheng in a third-set tiebreaker in Saudi Arabia.
Gauff continued the strong end to her season by winning one of the biggest trophies of her careers so far at the WTA Finals.
The American had struggled at points during the match and at one point trailed by a set and a break but Gauff eventually came through to beat Zheng 3-6, 6-4, 7-6.
It was the latest result in a fantastic week for the 20-year-old, who beat world number two Iga Swiatek in the group stage, before taking down WTA number one Aryna Sabalenka in the semi-finals.

The world number three has been in excellent form at the end of 2024, with Gauff picking up the China Open title, the second WTA 1000 crown of her career to date.
She was unsurprisingly delighted with her latest triumph, and took to social media to celebrate.

Gauff won her first WTA Finals title on Saturday, and took to X to celebrate her success.
“In all seriousness, I’m so grateful for all the support the last few weeks,” she said.
“Getting to win the last tournament of the season and it also being the second biggest title of my career so far is insane.
“Wow WTA Finals champion.
“I’m eternally grateful for the for the life I get to live and to have moments like this makes all of the hours/sacrifice I put into this worth it.
“Time to rest for a little bit but then it’s back to grind for next years szn.”
The American went on to joke about how the result has silenced some of her critics.
“Safe to say I beat the bad season allegations,” said Gauff.
The 20-year-old reached the semi-finals of the first two Grand Slams of the season, at the Australian and French Open, but had struggled for form in the middle part of the year.
Many people had criticised her for regressing in 2024, especially after Gauff was knocked out of the US Open in the fourth round.
Winning in China and Saudi Arabia quickly quietened down those talks, as Gauff now heads into 2025 with some serious momentum.

“Well done to her and her team.”
Gauff has struggled with her second serves in 2024, leading the tour for double faults this season.
