Coco Gauff will be looking to get back to winning ways at the Wuhan Open after being dismantled by Amanda Anisimova at the China Open.

Anisimova needed 58 minutes to send her compatriot packing last week, and the American went on to win the title by defeating Linda Noskova in the final.

Anisimova admitted she made mistakes against Gauff, but it was the 21-year-old left with more questions than answers from the tournament.

Gauff has been given some advice following the crushing defeat to Anisimova and right now, she has little time to dwell on the defeat, with the next tournament now on the horizon.

Coco Gauff handed nightmare Wuhan Open draw

Gauff will be looking to get back on track pretty quickly after the heavy defeat to Anisimova, but she will have to win the next tournament the hard way.

Gauff does have a bye through the first round due to being the world’s number three on the WTA rankings, but from that point, it looks like a rough road to the title.

The reigning French Open champion could play Emma Navarro, Mirra Andreeva, Iga Swiatek and world number one Aryna Sabalenka during the tournament in Wuhan.

Gauff will need to really knuckle down if she’s to avoid a shock at the tournament and winning it looks like a thankless task for the American.

Aryna Sabalenka set to return to tennis

After winning the US Open, Sabalenka chose to take some time off from competitive tennis and now she’s ready to return to action in Wuhan.

Her draw is challenging too and although perhaps not as tough as Gauff’s, she will still be severely tested as she progresses through the tournament.

Sabalenka also gets a bye into the round of 32, and there she’s likely to meet Anna Kalinskaya, with Liudmila Samsonova likely to be on the cards in the last 16.

In the quarters, Elena Rybakina is the likely opponent with a rematch of the US Open final with Anisimova potentially on the cards for the semifinal.

Gauff or Swiatek will be waiting in the final, and with the world’s best players all taking part in the tournament, it will be one that proves extremely entertaining as things progress.
