It’s been another superb season for American women’s tennis, with Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula among the players enjoying their time on the court.

Gauff impressed Roger Federer as a teenager, and she has gone from strength to strength since breaking out on the WTA Tour.

The American superstar boasts two Grand Slam titles, one of which arrived this season at the French Open in Paris.

That success came after her compatriot Madison Keys won the Australian Open, before Amanda Anisimova reached the finals of Wimbledon and the US Open.

Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula among four American women in year-end top 10

Gauff will end the year third in the WTA rankings, closely followed by Anisimova in fourth, with Pegula and Keys in sixth and seventh respectively.

Hugely impressively, it marks the first time that four American women will end the year in the top 10 since 2004.

Back then, legendary sisters Serena Williams and Venus Williams were in the top 10, alongside Lindsay Davenport and Jennifer Capriati.

The 10 highest-ranked American players on the WTA Tour

It’s undoubtedly a very exciting time for American women’s tennis, with the future looking extremely bright.

There are already four players in the WTA top 10, but that number could certainly be increased in the near future.

Emma Navarro is closest to breaking the top 10, a feat she achieved last year, although 17-year-old Iva Jovic is arguably the next player to make it.

Highest-ranked American women

On the ATP Tour, European superstars Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have made it difficult for American men to really shine.

The pair shared the four Grand Slam titles, as they did in 2024, but Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton will both end the year in the ATP top 10.

Tommy Paul meanwhile occupies 20th place, but like Jovic, teenager Learner Tien is threatening to become the next star of American men’s tennis.
