Chris Evert thinks Alexander Zverev has a good chance of success at the US Open.
The German has built some momentum heading into the final Grand Slam of the season which he is trying to win for the first time.
In fact, the 27-year-old is still trying to win the first major of his career after failing to win either of his two career Grand Slam finals so far.
One of those came at the US Open and that still motivates and drives Alexander Zverev to achieve his dream of winning one of tennis’ four biggest and most prestigious championships, something Chris Evert achieved on 18 occasions.
How does Chris Evert think Alexander Zverev will fare at the US Open?
Following the Olympic Games where he reached the quarter-finals, Zverev began his North American hard court swing at the Canadian Open.
He made it to the last eight where he suffered defeat to America’s Sebastian Korda in three sets. Zverev moved to Cincinnati where he lost another tight match, this time against Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals.
Zverev looked encouraging throughout those two tournaments and is always a dangerous player at any stage of a Grand Slam. Given his form and confidence at the moment, Evert fancies him to do well at Flushing Meadows.
“I think Alexander’s Zverev has been playing very well lately and he seems to have his game together,” Evert told ESPN. “His returns, and he is serving very well. I think Zverev looks comfortable in his section of the draw.”

The top tennis players tend to practice with one another before a tournament begins, especially at the Grand Slams.
On Thursday, Zverev had a hitting session with Novak Djokovic and this surprised Evert who stated that did not happen during her legendary career.
“Can I just say one thing, in my day none of the top players practiced together,” Evert said. “If Martina asked me to practice, I would have gone no, no, no! I don’t want you to know my game, babe.
“It’s unbelievable. It’s admirable they are getting out and playing sets in practice. It’s like, don’t you want to have a bit of mystery about your game?”
Zverev will commence his US Open campaign against Finland’s Emil Ruusuvuori and could face Djokovic in the semi-finals.
