Nothing appears to stand in the way of Caroline Wozniacki adding to the impressive collection of accolades she has gathered throughout her glittering career.
The 34-year-old cruised to a 6-2 6-4 win over Anhelina Kalinina in the first round of the Cincinnati Open on Wednesday, and with it came another astonishing record.
Wozniacki has soared to dizzying heights in the sport, notably rising to a career-high of world number one in 2010, and clinching her maiden grand slam title at the 2018 Australian Open.
But since the birth of her children in 2021 and 2022, the Dane has struggled to emulate this form.

What WTA record did Caroline Wozniacki just set?
Wozniacki, who represented her country at the Olympics last month, has found the North American hard courts a source of success in the past.
She has reached five US Open semi-finals, and come up agonizingly short in the final on two occasions in New York.
But it’s not just the major matches that she comes up trumps in.
With 158 now to her name, Wozniacki has just become the player with the most WTA 1000 hard-court wins since the introduction of the format in 2009, pulling clear of Victoria Azarenka who remains on 157.
Can Wozniacki go far at the Cincinnati Open?
Wozniacki is no stranger to success on the hard courts, and if there is one place that may stimulate a return to her best tennis, it’s in North America.
She has claimed 24 WTA titles on the surface throughout her career, including the prestigious WTA Finals in Singapore in 2017.
In Cincinnati, she has reached the quarter-finals on four occasions, with the last time coming seven years ago.
It feels a tall order for Wozniacki to return to the level she once was capable of, but she has an opportunity to advance further when she faces Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova on Thursday for a spot in the third round.
