Carlos Alcaraz has accomplished something not even Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic were able to do.

Alcaraz began his US Open campaign with a four-set win over qualifier Li Tu under the lights on Arthur Ashe Stadium.

He was made to work for it by the Australian qualifier, but after losing the second set, the Spaniard upped his game and stormed to victory.

The third seed is aiming to win his second title at Flushing Meadows and become the first man since Rafael Nadal in 2010 to win the French Open, Wimbledon and US Open in the same season.

After winning his first match at the 2024 US Open, Carlos Alcaraz has now played 70 matches at Grand Slam level in his career.

He has won 60 of them, meaning he has suffered just 10 defeats, which gives him a better record than Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic had when they were at that stage of their respective careers.

Nadal had 58 wins from his first 70 Grand Slam matches, Djokovic had 55 victories and 15 losses, while Federer won 52 of his first 70 matches at the majors.

Alcaraz has no plans on stopping at this incredible number in New York, as he aims to win the fifth Grand Slam of his career and second at the US Open.

What is Carlos Alcaraz’s Grand Slam finals record in comparison to Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic?

Alcaraz is a four-time Grand Slam champion and so far has won each of the finals he has competed in.

He defeated Casper Ruud to win the 2022 US Open final, and claimed back-to-back victories in the Wimbledon final against Djokovic. Alcaraz needed five sets to defeat Alexander Zverev in the 2024 French Open final.

Compared to the tennis ‘Big 3’, Alcaraz stacks up well. Djokovic lost his first Grand Slam final to Federer, while Nadal won his first two before losing the 2006 Wimbledon final, also to Federer.

Alcaraz still has some way to go to match Federer however, who won his first seven major finals against Mark Philippoussis, Marat Safin, Lleyton Hewitt, Marcos Baghdatis, Andre Agassi and two against Andy Roddick.
