Carlos Alcaraz was looking to reach his third Wimbledon final in three years.

Standing between Alcaraz and a place in the Wimbledon final was American star Taylor Fritz, who has been mightily impressive on grass in 2025.

It was Alcaraz who struck first in the semifinal, however, taking the first set 6-4, in front of a packed Centre Court.

Not willing to go down without a fight, Fritz broke to love in the 12th game of the second set to tie things up.

Stepping into another gear as he so often does, Alcaraz took the third and fourth sets, securing his place in Sunday’s final.

Sharing his thoughts on the match, Alcaraz said he was ‘really happy’ but admitted he was dealing with ‘nerves’ and ‘pressure’.

During his on-court interview, Alcaraz gave his verdict on his third consecutive Wimbledon semifinal victory.

“It was a really difficult match, as always when I have to play against Taylor [Fritz],” he said.

“Even tougher with conditions today, it was really hot again.

“I am really happy with everything I have done today. Dealing with the nerves and playing a semifinal here is not easy, and the pressure you might have, but just happy.

“In the fourth set, saving two set points, one when Taylor is serving, I am really proud about the way I stayed calm and thinking clearly, and pleased about my level today.”

The Spaniard was then asked for his thoughts on his remarkable 24-match ATP Tour winning streak and how he is managing to stay happy.

“It’s not thinking about those things. That’s the first thing. Not thinking about the winning streak or results at all,” said Alcaraz.

“It’s thinking about this is my dream. My dream is just stepping on these kind of courts, this beautiful court, playing tennis on the most beautiful courts in the world, and that is what I try to think about in every tournament.

“I think that is why I try and bring the joy to the court.”

Alcaraz is just one match away from fulfilling his dream for a third year in a row, as he now prepares for the Wimbledon final.

When asked about the final, Alcaraz said he didn’t want to look that far ahead, as he revealed whether he intends to watch Jannik Sinner play Novak Djokovic in the second semifinal.

“Right now, I don’t want to think about Sunday, to be honest. I just want to enjoy this moment. Enjoy that I qualified for another final, the third in a row here in Wimbledon, that is something that is really difficult and I have to think about it,” he said.

“I have to sometimes think about it and enjoy with my team, with my close people, I have a lot here.

“I will have time to think on Sunday, so right now I am going to watch the other semifinal as well, and we will see.”

Excited to watch his two biggest rivals face off, Alcaraz reiterated his intention to make time for the match.

“This is one of the most exciting match-ups we have on tour right now, [Novak] Djokovic against Jannik [Sinner], so as a huge fan of tennis, I am going to try and see it and watch as much as I can,” he said.

“I have to do a lot of things, press and whatever, but I will try and find the time to enjoy that match.”

Sinner and Djokovic will contest the second semifinal on Friday, July 11, with Alcaraz awaiting the winner in the final on Sunday, July 13.
